George was a proud graduate of Ottawa Technical High School and Ryerson College in Toronto. He loved to sing and was a member of the Ottawa Technical High School choir. His teenage years were spent taking apart and rebuilding many old cars in backyard of the family home on Nelson St. He also loved to play the harmonica and shared his talent at many a family gathering.
Growing up George had the privilege of both country and city living with time divided between the family home outside of Russell and the home on Nelson St. in Ottawa. In the 1970’s George, who was a Class A Mechanic, set up business on the family property in Russell where he was the proud owner of a highly successful business, George Groves Garage Ltd.
