Nécrologie de Mary Lynn Burnett
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of
Mary Lynn Burnett
(nee Putman)
Mary passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her children and grandchildren, at the age of 69 years old, after a very courageous 2-year battle with cancer. She was born the daughter of the late David James and Audrey Almira (nee Horton) Putman on July 22, 1951 in Dunville, Ontario.
She joins her husband of 50 years, Alexander George Somerville Burnett, who passed less than 1 year previous. Mary is grieved by her children Nicole (Richard) Alley, Cathy (Andrew) Miles, Sean (Jessica) Burnett and Joshua (Sabrina) Henry as well as her cherished grandchildren; Alison (Frank), Natasha (Troy), Melyssa, Simon, Jacob, Ashley, Noah, Liam, Asher, Caleb and Abigail. Mary was predeceased by her brother Arthur (Marlene) Putman and her sister Jane (Bill) Boyington. Also leaving behind many grieving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Mary retired from over 35 years of Foster Parenting with the Kingston Children’s Aid Society and the Prescott and Russell Child and Adult Services and was an active advocate for Foster Parents throughout Ontario. She touched the lives of many families and children over the years, who are grateful for the time spent with her. Mary had a love of camping, the outdoors and gardening but her true love was caring for family and friends. Mary will also be remembered fondly by her and Alex’s many “camping buddies” throughout North America. Mary will be fondly remembered by all that knew her for her great smile, her wonderful sense of humour and her zest for life.
A Celebration of Life, for immediate family members, will be held on Sunday September 6th, 2020 but unfortunately due to COVID-19, will be by invitation only. A Memorial Services will be held in Summer 2021. Donations in Mary’s name can be sent to Winchester District Memorial Hospital Foundation.
